Polluted by Design: Documentary Series Film Screening

You are invited to the launch of Polluted by Design: Histories of Waste and the Struggle for Environmental Justice in South Baltimore — a four-part documentary series created by students in the Environmental Justice Workshop at Johns Hopkins University and Cornell University, in partnership with the South Baltimore Community Land Trust (SBCLT). The project was developed with the guidance of instructors Chloe Ahmann and Anand Pandian and filmmaker Andrea Conte.
Tuesday April 28, 6-8pm
Gilman 50, Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus (3400 N. Charles St., Baltimore, 21218)
Across Hawkins Point, Fairfield, Westport, and Curtis Bay, these films expose how waste management policies and unchecked industrial growth have endangered communities across South Baltimore, while amplifying the work of organizers fighting to reclaim their neighborhoods’ futures.
The evening will feature a full screening of the series (approximately 60 minutes), followed by reflections and discussion with community leaders, organizers, and policy advocates on what environmental justice requires from city and state institutions today.
