South Baltimore Community Land Trust creates development without displacement through renovations of vacant homes and construction of new homes on vacant land. All homes created and sold by South Baltimore CLT will remain permanently affordable, thereby creating opportunity for generations to come.
Our Process
We are committed to working with first-time homebuyers and will support you every step of the way.
Are you interested in purchasing a permanently affordable home with South Baltimore Community Land Trust? Here’s what you need to do:
- INTEREST — Complete our homeownership interest form
- INTAKE — Our Housing Stewardship Coordinator, Quan Campbell, will meet with you to discuss your needs and current status, and to talk you through this process and what SBCLT has to offer. Quan will be your coach and guide!
- COUNSELING — If SBCLT is the right fit for you, Quan will coordinate homeownership counseling for you. Our partners at Druid Heights Community Development Corporation offers comprehensive homeownership counseling, and we will coordinate with them for you to attend a homeownership workshop and a housing counseling session. At your counseling session, you’ll meet with a professional counselor to review your finances who will help you decide if you are ready for homeownership. They’ll review any credit issues that need to be addressed before you apply for a mortgage, and
- FINANCING — Quan will guide you through the process of applying for financing, whether through local community-based homebuyer incentives or through a local bank.
- CLOSING — We’ll hand over the keys and celebrate! You are now a homeowner. In the months and years to come, we’ll continue to work with you as we build and strengthen our South Baltimore community together.
Listen to SBCLT’s Dr. Meleny Thomas on WEAA radio’s Two Way Talk on how our community land trust is set up to support you in your journey toward homeownership and building community.
Our Properties
All homes will be made available on a first come, first serve basis for individuals and families at 50% AMI and below. We strongly advise all who are interested to start now by filling out our homeownership interest form as a first step.
